Here are the REAL weapons that the weapons in the game Goldeneye were fashioned after.
The PP7 is based on the Walther PPK. This German handgun shoots a .32ACP (7.65 x 17mm)caliber bullet. This handgun is a popular personal defense weapon, due to its small size and mild recoil. The muzzle velocity is about 1000 feet per second.
The DD44 Dostovei is based on the Russian TT33 Tokarev. This handgun fires the 7.62 x 25mm bullet. The bullet velocity is about 1400 feet per second, which is quite high for a handgun. This bullet is known for its piercing capability. In some countries, the police uses bullet-proof vests designed specifically to stop this high-power bullet.
The Cougar Magnum is based on the Colt Python. This classic revolver fires the 357 Magnum round at about 1400-1500 feet per second. This is about the same speed as the TT-33 Tokarev bullet, but the 357 Magnum bullet is much heavier, meaning it will have much more knock-down power. In Goldeneye, the gun is a bit overcredited. The bullet of the AK-74 has a much higher penetration capability and is much more powerful than the 357 magnum, meaning that the AK-74 bullet would go through doors and people just like the AR-33 Assault Rifle bullet, but the 357 magnum bullet would not.
The Klobb is based on the Czech Vz61 Scorpion machine pistol. This gun fires the same .32 ACP bullets that the Walther PPK does. It is known for its extremely small size, which is about the size of a regular semi-automatic pistol (TT33 Tokarev, under 12" long). It fires at a rate of 600 rounds per minute. The bullet velocity is about 1000 feet per second.
The KF7 Soviet is based on the Romanian AK-74. No, I didn't misspell it, this gun is different from the AK-47. The AK-47 was used by the Russian Army until the early 1990's, when the AK-74 was adopted instead, because of its lighter recoil. The AK-74 fires a 5.45 x 39mm bullet, while the infamous AK-47 shoots a 7.62 x 39mm bullet. The AK-47 and AK-74 look almost exactly the same, but the main difference between the two is the caliber (bullet size). The AK-74 used in Goldeneye is actually a shortened version. The barrel is shorter and it has a folding stock. This gun shoots at a rate of 600-800 rounds per minute. The muzzle velocity (bullet speed as it exits the barrel) is about 2850 feet per second (a better way to imagine the speed is by remembering that there are 5280 feet in a mile; therefore, this bullet flies at over half a mile per second.).
The ZMG (9mm) is based on the Israeli Mini-UZI. This sub-machinegun fires the standard 9mm bullet (9x19mm). It fires at about 1200 rounds per minute, one of the funnest and fastest guns in Goldeneye.
The D5K Deutsche is based on the Heckler&Koch MP-5. MP is short in german for Machinen-Pistole, which means machine pistol. Because of its compactness, it is used by SWAT teams. This compact weapon fires a standard 9mm round (9x19mm). The bullet velocity is about 1200 feet per second. It fires at 900 rounds per minute.
The Phantom is based on the Spectre M4 SMG. This gun shoots either the standard 9mm, 40 S&W, or 45 ACP round. The velocities of these bullets range from as low as 900 feet per second (45 ACP), to about 1200 feet per second in the 9mm version. The cyclic rate is about 850 rounds per minute.
The AR-33 Assault Rifle is based on the U.S. M-16. This is the rifle in use by the U.S.Army. It fires the high velocity .223 Remington bullet (5.56 x 45mm). The muzzle velocity is about 3200 feet per second, the highest bullet velocity in the game. One of the reasons this bullet is so fast is because the bullet is rather small; on the other hand, it's still a little bigger than the AK-74 (KF7) bullet. The M-16 fires at 750-900 rounds per minute.
The RC P-90 is based on the FN P90. This weapon is brand new, therefore you probably haven't seen it before. What makes this weapon different from the others is its bullpup design. Bullpup means that the barrel is built into the gun itself, instead of attached to the front of it. That's why the magazine is at the back of the rifle instead of the front. The bullpup feature allows the gun to be much more compact, but as effective as rifles close to twice its size. A mistake was made in Goldeneye with this weapon. The magazine is supposed to carry 50 instead of 80 rounds. The P90 fires a 5.7
x 28mm bullet. The muzzle velocity is about 2400 feet per second and this gun shoots at about 900 rounds per minute. While the P-90 found it's way into Goldeneye, the only Bond movie to feature it was TWINE.
The Rocket Launcher is based on the Soviet RPG-7 (Rocket Propelled Grenade 7). This is a popular, effective, and simple-to-use rocket launcher. It is powerful enough to be used as an anti-vehicle weapon.
